Magnify the Lord with Me! – Gratitude Journaling

I don’t know about you guys but 2019 really took me through the ringer. I was challenged in  so many unexpected ways. By the end of the year, I literally looked like Alfre Woodard in Holiday Heart (look it up lol). Anywho, in light of my circumstances, entering 2020 felt like I was entering a fight.

So this is what I’ve decided…this year I am going to magnify the Lord. This year, I am committing to showing GRATITUDE for all of the good God has done and is doing.

The Psalmist David said,

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!”

Psalms 34:2-3 ESV
  1. Magnify the Lord

Magnify in this context should be defined as extol or glorify. In Ayanna’s laymen’s terms, I understand it as make God bigger. If we had to choose between $20 and $2 million, most of us would choose $2 million. Why? On a basic level, $2 million dollars is MORE than $20. We understand that $2 million is more valuable than $20. It also can accomplish more than $20.

Ok, now that we’ve got that. Here’s the lesson. Many of us have been focusing on the small rather than the big. We magnify our problems rather than magnifying the good in our lives. We magnify the 3 that didn’t show up to our party instead of being grateful for the 20 that did. You know how it is. You wake up, move around with no issue, shower, brush your teeth, get out the door all with no issue. Then you get that triggering email or text and it ruins the rest of your day.

How?!

You magnified the wrong thing. Instead of thanking God for all that went right, you dwell on what didn’t. This year let’s change it up and magnify the Lord because He is good!

2. …With me, let US exalt His name TOGETHER.

I want you to join in the challenge with me! There is power in unity. An army of one has potential, but an army of 12 has more power. Let’s join together in blessing the Lord this year! I can guarantee you will have more than enough opportunity to exercise this muscle.

When things start going wrong, begin listing what’s going right. Write the good in the “Notes” section of your phone or even better, physically write in a journal.

If you don’t magnify the Lord, He’ll do it Himself…because He’s just that good. 😉

“Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the LORD.” ’”

Ezekiel 38:23 NKJV

Let’s get the year started off right and magnify the Lord together!
