Q&A with Risha Leondra

Meet Risha, Owner of Sow Good Creative

What do you do for a living?

I’m the owner of Sow Good Creative. We help creative entrepreneurs through brand strategy, web design, and digital marketing. So, I’m at my computer A LOT! I also run my personal brand, Risha Leondra, where I encourage Christian creative entrepreneurs turn dreaming into doing.

Risha Leondra

Risha, you are a jack of all trades in that you are an amazing photographer, website designer, and a new business owner. What specifically peeked your interest about these aspects of branding and marketing?

My passion for photography started when I was 20. My mom got a camera and I started playing around with it. I found that I loved being creative with it. That led to family and wedding photography. But my real love for photography sparked in 2014, in the peak Instagram days. I would meet up with other photographers in Nashville for Instameets. We’d meet in different parts of the city, take dope photos, and share them on the gram.

My passion for web design came with that. I wanted a place to share my photos, so I started a website. I fell in love with Squarespace, the site builder I use, and then found out other people needed websites. Working in the music industry has helped these and other passions to flourish. Someone is always in the need for new photos, website help, or building their brand.

What did you love most about being a Brand Manager with Good City Music?

Being at Good City Music was more than just a job. I’ve gained life long friends that I know will help when I need it and I’ll always be there for them. We worked hard and played hard. There’s a good balance there. And I’ve gained more in life skills at this job than I could ever imagine. Definitely a Godsend.

Are there any artists you think we should check out? Better yet, do you have a good playlist for us to check out?

Yes! I’ve got a whole list… You can check out my Who Got Now playlist on Spotify. I’m a BIG fan of Christian Hip Hop and have worked in that community for 8 years. Go listen! There’s a lot of great music that will get you through the day and give encouragement!

Tell us about your new business venture. What spurred you to start Sow Good Creative? What is your vision behind it?

I’ve had this desire to build something that’s bigger than just me. Risha Leondra, the personal brand, is great, and that’s where I was previously housing these services under. But what happens if I no longer want to have a personal brand? Or if something happens to me? Sow Good Creative was started so I could have something separate from myself as a business. Something I can pass on to my children, Lord willing. A place that I can hire others and sow into their lives.

The vision is to sow good and serve well.

Risha Chesterfield

I intend to do that with everyone that works in or with Sow Good Creative.

What is God teaching you in this season of your life?

Whew… to trust Him fully. I’m learning to take His Word for what it says. And to not operate from a place of fear, but of faith. If God carried all of the people in the Word, all the people that came before me, what makes me any different? My faith is growing, and in the words of Mike Todd, it’s BAMBOO SEASON!

What is your favorite scripture? Why?

Romans 8:38-39: For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There’s nothing that separates me from the love of God! I love that! Nothing can separate and nothing can make Him love me more or less. I rest in that on my best days and my worst. He still sees me, knows me, and loves me.

What comes to mind when you think of the word grace?

I think of the Lord and His grace towards us. How many times He’s shown favor towards His children and me personally. And how Christ is the ultimate product of Grace. The fact that God sacrificed His son for me?!?! Sheesh! God is too good.

Yesss! So, how has that grace impacted your life?

I wish I could name all the ways. We’d have a novel of an interview. But in particular, there have been seasons where the grace and favor of God has protected me. When the numbers don’t make sense on paper, but the rent is still paid. Laying in pain and not sure if the pain will subside. He says His grace is sufficient. I lean on that in difficult times and in the great times.

When you look at your Grace Lane & Co. mug what comes to mind?

I love that this is a reminder as I do my favorite thing, drink my morning coffee. We gotta love God first. That’s the main thing. No matter how things are going, I must love people. And lastly, choose to embrace grace. His grace is there, am I embracing it for today? Hopefully the answer is yes!

I sincerely hope you enjoyed this interview as much I did. If you did, please don’t forget to subscribe to the blog and follow Risha, @rishaleondra and @sowgoodcreative, on all of her social media platforms!

Big Hugs,

Ayanna
